Chronology of cameras Franka
This camera was made in the Germany US-Zone, Bayreuth, in the Black Forest, as indicated by the inscription on the back. This marking also allows to know that the manufacture took place before 1955, the official date of the end of the Allied occupation.
This is a dual-format folding: 6 x 6 or 4 x 4. A small cursor located in front, near the viewfinder allows you to switch from one format to another, while on the back there are two windows. A zipper allows you to hide one or the other depending on the format chosen.
There are different combinations of lenses and shutter. The combination of the 5.6 / 75mm Frankar anastigmat and the three-speed Vario (1 / 25th 1 / 50th and 1/200) is the least efficient. There are other earlier Solida I models, but only this one has the format change.
